for my space horror story which I'm kinda spinning in my head rn the protag is an autistic faceblind person (i'm trying to keep the reader guessing on their gender) who actually finds comfort in the strict bizarre routine of their weird space program. dystopian regime to YOU? comforting routine to ME. they are kinda sexually obsessed w this guy Mat but in a "only other person your own age in the airport is suddenly a 10/10" way. (even though Mat is actually quite a bit older lol) Mat has a bit more genre awareness & thinks they should escape the scary space program but he also is terrified of having to go back to earth finish his PhD and pick up the tatters of his personal relationships etc. & there is also an ambiguously gendered military person (i am trying to make a point about gender in this story lol) who gives them cigarettes for a bit but then lowkey rats them out to the leaders of space program #problematic

basically the concept of the space program is that they're sending students (and student-adjacent people I guess) out to a different (unspecified) planet to teach the aliens english, but it becomes immediately clear the aliens are already highly proficient in english, but there's no sign of when the students on the program can actually go home. the aliens are making up their own nefarious plots too ofc. my main alien throuple (who the protag partly lives with) are called corridor, flute & boeing atm (but i keep changing their names...)

lately the 2 ocs of mine that i've been giving the most attention are ikeda kiyo and nakano asami. they originally were both blue lock ocs but i ended up separating them from blue lock and i've started giving them a bit of their own story. kiyo is a soccer player who treated people really poorly as a teen in pursuit of her dream, but by the time she goes pro she doesn't enjoy soccer that much anymore and all she can think about is how mean she used to be. asami is a soccer player who quit to go to art school. she was close friends with kiyo in high school and is kind of haunted by her memory. kiyo is a butch cis-ish girl on t. she uses she/he pronouns. asami is a trans girl.

some of my fav ocs come from this other story i have called heliolatry <- working title. it's a story about superheros and family trauma. the mc, molly is a girl who gets superpowers after a pretty extreme incident of abuse by her sister. she's working on her ged while functioning as a vigilante of sorts. she views herself as an "empty shell" of a person/a "possessed corpse" and a lot of people in the city where she operates refer to her as a saint or an angel. her older sister, angel is an adult burn survivor with a really fraught mental state due to abuse. she kind of carries that abuse onward onto molly. there are a LOT more characters but at its core heliolatry is a story about "unconventional" familial abuse and dysfunction and reckoning with the question of why people who love you do things to hurt you.
