cosplay is always fun, but my favorite is finding elements of costumes that i like and translating them to more casual wear, or “stealth cosplay,” as i’ve taken to calling it.

an extreme example:
dressing up as nyancat: weird, clunky, you have to carry around a huge poptart-shaped thing wherever you go, it’s bulky

stealth nyan cat cosplay: rainbow skirt with a starry sky motif t-shirt and a grey cardigan - comfy! cute! works on its own! if someone sees it and doesn’t know who nyan cat is you just look fashionable or maybe a little weird/cool! if someone sees you and they do know, now they might say “wow your outfit reminds me of nyan cat! that’s so cool!” and now you’ve made a friend.

this is the way. you can even add “hints” if you like, like pop tart earrings or a bag shaped like a pop tart would be fun too !!
