What was it like being diagnosed?

there were a lot of tests, mostly written ones, but I also had to take an IQ test and that was weird. I think i probably took tests for three weeks in a row (meeting once a week at the clinic) for about 2-3 hrs each time. They tested me for lots of other things too, not just ASD, so I think they were trying to rule out a bunch of other things as well.

it was exhausting to do all of those, and expensive too (insurance doesn't cover these things usually, bc ofc they don't, and I think I ended up paying ~$500 USD for the entire battery of tests), but it's given me a ton of insight into how my mind works and allowed me to heal from a lot of trauma as a result. i also ended up getting my bipolar type 2 and borderline personality disorder diagnoses overturned and was instead diagnosed with CPTSD (chronic ptsd, for people who've endured traumatic events over a long period of time, rather than just a singular traumatic event), so that's helped me to get treatment that has actually helped me to begin to recover, which is nice.
