i don't use an IDE i just rawdog it with the terminal. so in that case i use micro because between emacs and vim i choose the sane and godly option. this doesn't require you to read a fucking handbook on keybindings (it's just the average shortcuts to save, copy, paste, etc) nor is it so full of features that it can supplant your IDE. it just... does the job! i think the other good option is probably neovim but i haven't tried it and that also requires the insane keybindings
