Hello all. I've seen an uptick in usage of the abbreviation for screenshot: "ss"
I'm not usually one to word police, but just so you all know- that actually stands for "Schutzstaffel" which was the police force and military under the Nazi reign. So, yeah. Just be aware!
Please be mindful that I'm not saying you shouldn't use this abbreviation, but do remember to be careful and aware of context you use said phrase in. That's all!

admin perspective: while i do agree with you, i think this post is kind of superfluous. context matters as you say and as far as i know i don't think anyone has used the abbreviation in a hate speech context. many acronyms/abbreviations can have double meanings like this but that's why context is extremely important, and also knowing how to spot dog whistles which are more subtle. i do appreciate you raising awareness of it though so don't feel like there's anything wrong with this post.
to everyone: report any nazi shit immediately and it will be dealt with ASAP.
