One person's experience[s] shouldn't define a community as a whole. Seems like common sense to me, but I feel like it's extremely normalized that a negative experience with a community defines them and kind of ruins their reputation, period? Like, if you meet a really toxic fan of a series and suddenly hate the entire fandom, I'm gonna immediately think you're a lil weird. Obviously one person does not speak for us all, you know?
